Art and sports are two activities that extend across the world and allow for a fraternal approach between individuals; these forms of expression can be seen throughout the different stages of humanity.

At the Jacobo & María Ángeles Workshop, we understand sports disciplines as mirrors of our artisanal practice. We know that sports, just like craftsmanship, require an inconceivable effort, discipline, and consistency.

In every project undertaken – just like in the baseball field – the Workshop includes values such as solidarity, camaraderie, tolerance, and teamwork, fundamental and necessary tools to achieve the best results.

Thanks to these shared values, we were able to carry out the design of the official jerseys for the Guerreros de Oaxaca baseball team for the 2023 season, whose figure envelops the player as if it were the decoration of one of our pieces, accentuating the back, spine, and chest. Totally organic shapes that culminate in sharp angles, which remind us of the roots of a plant, as we must be of piercing origin.

The back of this design refers to an abstract interpretation of corn, while the front is based on the spikes of the maguey. Attention should be paid to the series of thorns that boldly defend its outline.

These conceptual references have allowed us to generate graphic strategies within our artistic resolutions. We have drawn inspiration from the tribal stage of the alebrije from the 90s, and we have combined it with our interpretation of the region's flora: corn, maguey, and copal.
